Candidate Statement
I hope this message finds you and your family feeling healthy and safe.
My name is Paul Suppa and I’ve lived in San Diego for nearly 30 years. Most of that time has been spent living in district 2.
I’m a 1999 graduate of the University of San Diego School of Law and a California licensed attorney for the last 26 years. I am a partner with Estelle & Kennedy, A Professional Law Corporation.
I am not a career politician or beholden to special interests. I am neither a Democract or a Replublican. Candidly, I believe both parties are failing us, and am running as an independent.
The core function of government is to spend taxpayer dollars wisely. this requires we focus on the following issues:
(S)treets & Safety
(A)ffordability, Accountability
(F)inancial or Fiscal Responsibility
(E)nvironment & Education
We cannot afford current San Diego leadership that fails to confront wasteful spending, curb corporate influence or fight against corruption. We should not be running a structural deficit of $100 million on revenue of $2.1 billion. City Council should focus on the core duties of government (remember the S.A.F.E.acronym) and STOP raising fees and taxes. We can’t afford it!
There are so many issues to tackle. One issue that really grinds my gears is affordable housing. For example, SB-79 CA state law is a SCAM! California requires density as a pretext for affordable housing but in reality lawmakers want to pack us into our neighborhood like sardines without any concern for the realities of infrastructure limitations. Because our leaders have FAILED at governing, they must raise taxes and fees to generate revenue in order to offset their egregious spending. We need a City Council with courage that is accountable to the PEOPLE!
I am running because I am angry. We need a better tomorrow for our children. We need to fight against the status quo. People want to be able to leave their homes without feeling anxious about finding another parking spot or unsafe because of crackheads hanging at a bus stop. Govenment must ACT with a laser focus on safe streets and infrastructure spending, from pot holes to gopher holes, sewers to utilities. If our leaders do not fiercely advocate for the PEOPLE, prices will go up up and away.
I strongly believe San Diego can and should be a shining example of how an American city should operate. I love District 2 and the people, neighborhoods, local businesses and schools in it. Have questions? Want results? BETTER CALL PAUL at 619.930.6309.
Thank you for the opportunity to be of service and remember to VOTE June 2nd!
Respectfully,
Paul Anthony Suppa, Esq.
